How does Utah reimburse transportation costs?

The state superintendent reimburses districts for costs reasonably related to transporting students to and from school. Under Board rule R277-600, costs for regular and special education bus routes that the district sets up and the state approves are allocated using a formula based on a calculated rate. Route data with accurate miles and minutes supports that calculation.

What is the Pupil Transportation Schedule A1?

Schedule A1 is the report each district submits to the state superintendent every year. It covers all estimated miles and minutes of to and from pupil transportation. Districts that qualify for rural school transportation reimbursement submit their current year Schedule A1 by December 30 in their first year of eligibility. Route data with accurate miles and minutes makes the A1 simpler to prepare.
